Partners in crime

By Aivis Grasmanis

Partners in crime
No matter what
You always smile
When first time
Met each other in court
Our history was too short
Story untold
Conviction unfold
Partners in crime
Even if you smile
Who remembers anymore?
What was the crime?

Long time ago
No matter of predictions
Speculations and no proof
There is no possible.

Way to prove my guilt
When the crime was done
No victims, no nothing
Only your words
Against these walls
Only remember your words.

When you said
We are partners in crime
With grime in your smile
What covered your full face?
Feigned sweet lie
Sentence always too short
For what was done
No guilt, no proofs
Only your simple words
Not remembered for sure
Who defends us?
Who only pretends?

To be friends
For partners in crime
When you still smile
No matter of conviction
I’m not staying any longer than needed
There wouldn’t be cell
Or strong enough chains
What could hold me in place?

On that squinted place
I always break out
Break free
Seeking justice
For partners in crime
To smile together
At this time
With victory on our side.
