Refund & Cancellation Policy

1.What this policy covers

At present, the only payments The Poetic Land (“TPL”) accepts are competition entry fees. Fees are shown in Indian Rupees (INR, ₹) on each competition’s page and are paid online through our payment partner, Razorpay. Reading TPL and creating an account are free. Books can also be pre-ordered; no payment is taken online for them at this time (see section 6).

2.No refunds on entry fees

Competition entry fees are non-refundable once the payment is successful. This applies in every case, including when:

• you withdraw or cancel your entry after paying;
• your entry is not selected, shortlisted or awarded;
• your entry is disqualified for breaking the competition rules or our Terms & Conditions;
• you miss a deadline or a step that the competition rules ask for.

The only exceptions are described in section 4: payment errors, and a competition cancelled by TPL.

3.Cancelling an entry

You may ask us to withdraw your entry at any time by writing to us (see section 5). We will remove the entry from the competition, but the entry fee will not be refunded.

4.When we do refund

We will refund the money if:

• You were charged more than once for the same entry (a duplicate or double charge). We refund the extra payment.
• Your payment failed but money was debited from your account, and your entry was not confirmed.
• TPL cancels a paid competition. If we cancel a competition you paid to enter, your entry fee is refunded in full.

Once we have checked the payment (or cancelled the competition), the refund is sent to the original payment method (the same UPI ID, card, bank account or wallet) within 5–7 working days. Your bank or card issuer may take a little longer to show it in your statement. Sometimes a failed payment is reversed automatically by the bank or by Razorpay; if so, you will not need to contact us.

5.How to report a payment problem

Write to contact@thepoeticland.com · support@thepoeticland.com or message us on WhatsApp at +91 96787 56870 with:

• your name and the email address or phone number you used to pay;
• the competition name;
• the date and amount of the payment;
• the Razorpay payment ID (it starts with “pay_” and is in your payment receipt) or the UPI / bank reference number, or a screenshot of the debit.

We will reply by email and let you know when the refund has been sent.

6.Book pre-orders

A book pre-order (for example a hard copy or soft copy of Peace After Pain) can be cancelled at any time before payment, at no cost: just tell us on WhatsApp or email. After payment, the refund rules confirmed with you at the time of the order apply.
