Kintsugi

By Favour Ajinomoh

It’s broken again
I can’t tell if I dropped it or it slipped
My carelessness or my shaky hands?
Either way accord me the blame.

It’s broken again
I found a way to fix it
But here we are, the same
You don’t deserve such pain

It’s broken again
How resilient you are
That you fixed yourself again
More beautiful than the first day

It’s broken again
I dare not come close
Nor touch you again
I’ll admire you, from far away

My dear vase of clay
Kindly stay away
I do not trust these hands
For I fear, they might break you again.
