No Balance

By Drici Amos James

The wind of change is blowing my way.
I can feel the wetness inside my nostrils.
There is no balance amidst my troubles,
Only a shattered, battered, and broken man.

There is no spark of purpose amidst my sorrows,
Only confusion and confession at play.
Only grace and mercy can pay the bills of a believer!
The weather within me is unpredictable,
Yet the world around me remains strangely calm.

I need alignment and total balance in life,
The light of enlightenment and deep commitment.
For the games humans play require no foreplay;
Except for hit-and-run, there is no balance.

I’m still on the run, chasing after perfect equations
To stabilize my unstable roots of faithlessness.
Though I still smile and dwell with sinners of my kind,
I kid you not—even after decades of hit-and-run,
The weather is so unpredictable for me.
The climate is so calm, yet focused on me.
I’m still on the lookout for a touch of balance,
But there is NO BALANCE.
