Welcome Home

By Danica S. Miller

(A Spiritual Reunion with Self)

Hey girl, where have you been?
I’ve been looking for you for so long,
feeling like I’ve lost my best friend.
I’ve seen you around town;
walking around with your head down,
looking mad; feeling sad;
not realizing & appreciating all the things that you (currently) have.

Hey girl, where have you been?
I’ve been asking about you; hoping & praying
that you’re recognizing the many blessings
GOD has bestowed upon you;
wanting you to open your eyes
to the gifts & talents you hold inside;
saying to myself, I truly hope
that she knows that it takes
a little rain for a flower to grow.

Hey girl, where have you been?
Don’t you know that before new things begin
old things have to end.
I want you to accept that
your life is a book,
made up of different chapters,
each designed to build
& create character.

Hey girl, let me be the first to say,
Welcome Home, accept your crown &
sit graciously on your throne.
Keep your feet planted firmly on the ground
while enduring life’s (constant) ups & downs,

Hey girl, Welcome Home, it’s been far too long that you’ve been gone!
Here you will always be greeted with open arms &
treated with respect & dignity, because when storms come,
home is the best place to be.
